Located in the southern portion of Florida, the city of Miami is ranked as a top hotspot for great beaches, vibrant nightlife, endless shopping, recreation, and even romance. The city was founded on July 28, 1896 and is divided into different sections: North, South, West, and Downtown. Downtown Miami, technically located in the eastern part, is considered as the heart of the city. It is South Florida’s main center for business. It houses major banks and other financial institutions and tourist attractions. Meanwhile, the Southern part of the city is where the Coral Way and the famous Coconut Grove are found. Coral Way is a residential area that was built in 1922 while Coconut Grove, built in 1825, is home to Miami City Hall. On the other hand, the Western part of Miami houses different immigrant neighborhoods from Central America, Cuba, and other countries. Lastly, the Northern section of the city is where Midtown is found. This is also a district of different races and diverse culture.
Climate in Miami is subtropical with warm sunshine all year round. Its annual average temperature was recorded at 76º F or 23º Celsius. The city has hot and humid summer days. The average temperature of a typical summer day is never below 75º F or 24º Celsius. During the winter season, the average temperature is at 60º F or 15º Celsius. The city usually experiences dry winters. It experienced snowfall only once in January 20, 1977. The highest recorded temperature in the city was at 98º F or 37º Celsius while the lowest was at 30º F or -1º Celsius. The city also receives abundant rainfall and is often struck by hurricanes and tropical depressions.

Miami is home to many business establishments, international banks and other financial institutions, and television companies. It is considered as an international center for entertainment. Miami also features approximately 800 parks. Among the famous parks in the city include Crandon Beach County Park, Biscayne National Park, and Everglades National Park. It also houses more than 460 luxurious hotels and motels. The city is also home to the Florida Grand Opera, the Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing Arts, and the New World Symphony making its cultural life alive.

Two of the famous spots are found in Miami: Port of Miami and Miami Beach. Miami Beach, once a plantation for coconuts, is a manmade island. It is where one of the United States’ best snow skiing clubs is found. Jackie Gleason, a famous broadcaster, tagged Miami Beach as the sun and fun capital city. On the other hand, the Port of Miami is famous because it accommodates large volumes of cruise ships from around the world.
